Watling Waste Services are proud sponsor of the 2018 Wadokia All Nations Katate Championships taking place in Leicester Sports Arena on the 25 & 26th August this year.
Watling Waste Services has sponsored many local football teams, events and challenges over the years, and as a company we feel it’s great to see the younger generation doing well in sporting activities. We decided to sponsor the Wadokai All Nations Championships for many reasons but to be associated with an international event of this size hosted by the Wadokai England Squad itself is reason enough.
But the main and most important reason for our sponsorship is the personal link that one of our own directors has to Karate and Wadokai England. Kevin Ramsey and his two daughters Madelene & Nell all train in the style of Wado Ryu Karate, within a fantastic club Kombat Federation. The club is run by Sensei Steve Moore 5th Dan, whom is also a Wadokai England Kata coach, and Selina Moore who have both had a large input in organising these championships. Through Kombat Federation, Kevin`s eldest daughter Madelene has been a member of the Wadokai England Squad for a couple of years and he felt honoured that we were able to sponsor such a great event. We hope that all competitors have a great championship and we look forward to supporting you all this Summer. Good luck everyone.

Wadoryu means literally ‘style of the way of peace’. This name implies that karate is not meant to teach people how to fight, but how to be peaceful. Like Zen, one learns to control the mind through a physical act. Karate’s origin is the act of being brought ‘back’ to the Zen principle of ‘natural state’ or the ‘pure mind’. As soon as this state is attained by meditation and self-control, one is free from any obstruction caused by fear to for example suffer from pain or to become exhausted. Wadoryu karate is a unique form of karate which was developed by professor Hironori Ohtsuka.
